A vehicle originating from outside the European Union may require different customs procedures than a vehicle purchased within the EU. Also confirm approval, especially on versions intended for other markets.
Nationality does not decide eligibility.
The residence transfer regime requires conditions relating to the person, the move and the vehicle. Buying a car after arriving is not the same as transferring your own vehicle under this scheme. Confirm ISV, VAT and possible customs duties separately.
Prepare the process before transportation. Having a foreign license plate does not authorize indefinite circulation in Portugal after changing residence.
